Job Title: HR Assistant| Salary: $19/hr. | Benefits: Medical, Dental, AD&D
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support in the following areas:
- Manage the selection of promotions and placements
- Employee orientation, development, and training
- Manage established training programs
- Employee Relations: Foster a positive employer-employee relationship to promote high employee morale and motivation
- Develop strong working relationships with executives, management, and staff, providing advice, guidance, and coaching as needed
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, staying updated with revisions
- Update HR system with all new hires
- Coordinate performance management program, ensuring performance expectations and policy guidelines are met effectively and timely
- Facilitate effective and timely communication across all levels of employees
- Work closely with temporary agencies onsite to ensure adherence to policies and procedures
- Serve as backup in payroll processing
- Investigate and respond to employee complaints and EEOC charges
- Implement and apply company policies and procedures
- Monitor Distribution Center environment and report issues/concerns to management
- Complete and submit unemployment information to the state promptly, representing the company at unemployment hearings and tribunals as needed
- Support safety programs developed by the Safety Manager and administrative duties related to Workers Compensation Programs with Liberty Mutual
- Act as a resource for employees regarding general benefit questions and assist with open enrollment processes
- Track compliance of new hires and pay ranges
- Supervise daily activities of HR staff
- Ensure completion and accuracy of I-9 forms for current and past employees
- Maintain Distribution Center organization charts
- Prepare, recommend, and maintain records and procedures for controlling personnel transactions and reporting personnel data changes
- Stay current on federal, state, and local employment law changes and monitor updates affecting HR
- Administer exit interviews, monitor findings, recommend changes, and evaluate effectiveness
- Implement, oversee, and monitor effectiveness of Distribution Center training initiatives;conduct training sessions on various HR topics as needed
- Conduct new employee orientation
- Provide advice and counsel on personnel issues;investigate and coordinate resolution of employee issues and conflicts promptly
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor s degree in Human Resource Science or General Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resource Management preferred
- Minimum 6 years of hands-on HR Generalist and Management experience required, including recruitment (direct hire and temps), benefits administration, payroll administration, employee/labor relations, and safety/worker's compensation, preferably within a warehouse/production environment
- Excellent communication, writing, and software skills (proficient in Excel) required
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred, with ability to read, write, and speak both languages at a college level
- Knowledge of State and Federal labor laws
Computer Skills:
- Strong computer skills required;proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Reasoning Ability:
- Must interact effectively with all levels of management;possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to manage and lead a diverse workforce
Physical Demands:
- Lifting up to 10 lbs
- Sitting at a computer for extended periods
- Climbing stairs
Work Environment:
- Ability to work in a Distribution Center environment with varying temperatures
